Csepel Works
Csepel is Budapest’s 21st district, located in the northern part of Csepel Island, whose history has been shaped by industrial development.
The Csepel Works was one of Hungary’s most significant industrial complexes of the 20th century. Its predecessor, the Weiss Manfréd Steel and Metal Works founded by Manfréd Weiss, produced weapons, vehicles, machinery, and metal goods in the first half of the century.
Csepel also includes the Freeport, one of the Danube’s key industrial and logistics hubs.
Since the political transition, the area has gradually transformed: today, industrial heritage blends with warehousing, commercial, and creative functions.
