Fővám Square
Fővám Square is one of Budapest’s most beautifully positioned squares, framed by the Great Market Hall, Liberty Bridge, and the immediate presence of the Danube.
Built at the end of the 19th century, the square long served as one of the city’s commercial centers, its role shaped by the riverfront location and the market hall beside it.
Even today, it remains an important transport hub, where trams, metro lines, and pedestrian flows intersect, while tourists and market-goers mingle with students from Corvinus University of Budapest, cyclists heading toward the embankment, and skateboarders practicing on the square.
Fővám Square is at once a historical site and a living urban space, where the city’s commercial past and the density of everyday Budapest life layer naturally onto one another.
