Lukács Thermal Bath
The Saint Lukács Thermal Bath is one of Budapest’s defining Buda-side baths near the Danube embankment. Its healing springs were already used in the Middle Ages, and baths also operated here during the Ottoman period. The present building complex was constructed in a historicist architectural style at the end of the 19th century.
The building preserves both the atmosphere of old Buda baths and modern therapeutic functions. Its outdoor thermal pools and classical indoor pool halls make it one of the important venues of Budapest’s bathing culture.
The marble plaques placed on the walls preserve the messages of gratitude left by guests healed here, adding a unique and personal layer to the history of the bath.
