Papp László Budapest Sportaréna
Papp László Budapest Sportaréna is one of Budapest’s largest covered event halls, which opened in 2003 on the site of the former Budapest Sports Hall destroyed by fire.
Its distinctive rounded pebble-shaped mass and large-span steel structure make it a striking example of contemporary arena architecture. Because of its futuristic appearance, many compare the arena to a “landed UFO” embedded in the urban fabric.
The hall is capable of hosting more than 10,000 spectators, serving as a venue for sporting events and large-scale productions. Today it is also one of Budapest’s most important concert venues, where many world-famous performers and international shows have appeared.
