Párisi Udvar

Standing on Ferenciek Square, Párisi Udvar is one of Budapest’s most extraordinary architectural creations. The building, completed in 1913 and designed by Henrik Schmahl, combines elements of Art Nouveau, Neo-Gothic, and Moorish style in its richly decorated façade and spectacular interior arcade.

Originally built as the headquarters of the Downtown Savings Bank, it also functioned as an elegant shopping passage. The covered courtyard is crowned by a glass dome, while the walls and arches are adorned with rich ceramic, mosaic, and glass decorations. The abundance of detail, colorful Zsolnay ceramics, and perforated metal structures create one of Budapest’s most atmospheric interiors.

After a full restoration in the early 21st century, it now operates as part of the Hyatt Hotel Collection, under the name Párisi Udvar Hotel Budapest. The arcade remains accessible, with cafés and a restaurant welcoming visitors.
