Rákóczi Avenue
Rákóczi Avenue is one of Budapest’s most important boulevards, stretching as the continuation of Kossuth Lajos Street from Astoria to Keleti Railway Station.
Along this late-19th-century avenue, representative apartment houses, hotels, and commercial buildings line the street. Around the turn of the century, the area became one of Budapest’s liveliest urban axes, where cafés, theatres, and elegant shops flourished.
Today, Rákóczi Avenue remains one of the city’s major transport corridors, connecting the inner city with the Keleti district. Along the route stand landmarks such as Blaha Lujza Square, the Urania National Film Theatre, and numerous historic residential buildings that still preserve the urban atmosphere of turn-of-the-century Budapest.
